Ricky Ponting Sheds Light on Rishabh Pant’s Situation
2 min readIn the most recent news on Rishabh Pant, head coach of the Delhi Capitals Ricky Ponting said that the 26-year-old has begun taking wickets at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He was notably seen batting in the nets, and footage of him doing so went popular on social media. However, keeping was a significant area that appeared to be difficult for him since it places a lot of strain on the knees. Nevertheless, Pant overcame the difficulties and is working hard in the gym to build some momentum before the next Indian Premier League season.
Pant has already received a match-fit certificate from the NCA, so he may participate in every IPL game without the BCCI interfering. But, after Pant’s horrifying vehicle accident in December 2022, which left him with many injuries, the Delhi team is in no mood to take any chances. Ponting said that the cricket player is working out to improve his level of fitness and that his development is being tracked all the time.
The manager of the club formerly anticipated that Pant would miss the 2024 Indian Premier League, but the cricketer has shown enough bravery and commitment to overcome all the challenges and return to the main group. He also stated that batting is no longer a problem.

We’ve been quite encouraged by the fact that he has actually participated in some practice matches over the past few weeks. I am aware that in order to return to his current level of fitness, he has put in a great deal of effort on his physique. According to India Today, Ponting stated, “He’s fielded in these games, he’s kept in one of those games, and the batting hasn’t seemed to be a problem for him so far.
It goes without saying that we have been concerned that he might not have arrived in time to be prepared for this year’s IPL. “I mean, we can’t even begin to describe what he’s been through the last 12 or 14 months. He was a huge loss for us last year,” he continued.

The DC camp is unsure if Pant will participate in every game in the forthcoming season, despite having received the fit certificate. Regarding the same, Ponting stated that they are unsure of Pant’s suitability for every match and that he would be assigned to a new role if necessary. Pant was born in Haridwar.
We’ll have to make a huge choice because, if healthy, you would imagine he would return to the leadership position right away. We’ll need to make some judgments there if he’s not fully fit and needs to play a somewhat different role, according to Ponting.
