BCCI to Distribute ₹125 Crore Windfall Among T20 World Cup-Winning Indian Team and Staff

Shortly after India’s victory in the T20 World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared that it will split ₹125 crore in prize money between the winning team and the coaching staff. After an 11-year wait for a major championship, Rohit Sharma and company defeated South Africa by six runs in an exciting Barbados final.
India became the first team to win a T20 World Cup without dropping a single game during the competition with this triumph. It was also hailed throughout the nation as atonement for the team’s devastating defeat in the 2023 World Cup final, which India had hosted.
How much each person gets from the Prize Money of World Cup
The 15-person team and coaching staff are not the only recipients of the prize money. A TOI report states that a portion of it will also go to the four reserve players. It is anticipated that every member of the team would get a minimum of ₹5 Crores, with reserve players and support personnel receiving ₹1 Crore apiece. This allocation guarantees acknowledgment for both on-field performers and off-field assistance that is essential to India’s tournament triumph.

A trainer, manager, logistics manager, video analyst, security and integrity officer, three throwdown experts, three physios, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and head coach Rahul Dravid headed the support crew.

After India won the championship, there were tearful scenes in Barbados with both sets of players breaking down in tears. With the team shrugging off the label of “chokers” that the Proteas had been given since former teams, while featuring some of the finest players in the world, had not advanced past the semi-finals of major tournaments, South Africa made history by reaching the major tournament final for the first time. South Africa advanced undefeated to the final, just like India did.
Following the match, captain Rohit, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja declared their retirements from Twenty20 international cricket. Prior to the tournament even beginning, Dravid had said that, come what may, he would be leaving his position as team head coach. Throughout his stellar playing career, he had guided India to the World Test Championship and World Cup finals in 2023, but had not been able to win the latter championship. It meant that Dravid, whether it was for the T20 or ODI format, bowed out with his first World Cup title.
