The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League’s season kickoff on March 22nd is quickly approaching. Later this month, at their home field of Chepauk, the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore. While there is a lot of discussion about CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s IPL retirement, RCB’s season-long situation is still unknown.

Now, AB de Villiers, his former colleague, has given a significant hint as to whether or not Kohli will play. “Nothing is confirmed,” according to AB de Villiers, who made the statement on his YouTube account. Additionally, he stated that Head Coach Andy Flower or RCB captain Faf du Plessis will probably provide the confirmation. On his YouTube channel, de Villiers claimed that Virat Kohli had hinted that he would like me to come visit simply to hang out with him and some of the other hitters.

De Villers announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League in 2021. He stayed with the Royal Challengers Bangalore team till he declared his retirement from all forms of cricket. 2011 saw him join RCB. de Villiers finished the IPL with 5,162 runs at an incredible strike rate of 151.69. De Villiers was also admitted into the RCB Hall of Fame in 2023. De Villiers also mentioned the potential for a coaching position with the Challengers in his YouTube video.

It all started with a comment made by Gavaskar. Will Kohli play (in the IPL)? Gavaskar asked students during an event organized by the Indian Institute of Management-Ranchi. As of right now, nothing is known for sure. He hasn’t been playing the game for a reason. He might not play as much in the Indian Premier League 17. Even though Gavaskar’s remarks were hypothetical, many have started to wonder if Kohli would decide not to play in the IPL.
