BCCI delays 3 ENG Test Team Selection due to Ravindra Jadeja
2 min readBCCI postpones 3 ENG Test Team : Due to Ravindra Jadeja’s health, the eagerly expected selection meeting to choose the India team for the remaining three Test matches against England has allegedly been postponed. The original plan was for the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee to meet online on Thursday. The meeting was subsequently rescheduled for Friday, and according to The Telegraph, the selectors have now decided to move it further back to Saturday.
The selection meeting was initially postponed due to Jasprit Bumrah’s management of the workload and the fitness levels of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. After speaking with the BCCI medical team, it is believed that the selection committee and team management have decided to play Bumrah in the third Test. Rahul, meantime, has been confirmed by the NCA to play. Due to a quadriceps injury, he was unable to participate in the second Test. Right now, Jadeja is the only reason for conflict.
Like Rahul, Jadeja was unable to participate in the Visakhapatnam Test. In the second innings of the first Test match in Hyderabad, the all-round player injured his hamstring while attempting to take a single. Almost immediately after Ben Stokes smashed the stumps down to run him out, his hands found his hamstring. Jadeja has been trying to regain his fitness level at the NCA ever since. Even though he has come a long way, it will take him a few more days to recover completely.

Because of Jadeja’s value as a left-arm spinner and hitter, the selectors are prepared to postpone declaring the team until they get the all-around player’s final fitness report.
There are still five days till the third Test in Rajkot. If Jadeja’s fitness is cleared, the selectors may decide to put him in the team. On the other hand, most people believe Jadeja will be ready to play by February 15.
Jadeja will most likely replace Axar Patel in the starting lineup if he returns. Thus far in the series, Axar hasn’t been able to make much of an impression. He was promoted in Visakhapatnam, but he didn’t make a significant impact there. Additionally, he hasn’t been able to provide enough pressure to the England hitters when he has the ball.
Mohammed Siraj is another player who is almost certain to make a comeback to the team, in addition to Jadeja and Rahul. For the second Test, he took a break and was replaced by Mukesh Kumar. However, the latter was unable to grab the chance.
Due to Shreyas Iyer’s back issues, Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar may keep their spots.
