Devon Conway Likely To Miss First Half of IPL 2024: A Big Blow For CSK

Devon Conway, the opener for the Chennai Super Kings, will not play in the Indian Premier League’s first half. During the Twenty20 International series against Australia, he hurt his left thumb and missed the opening Test match. But after more testing and guidance from the medical staff, it was determined that the 32-year-old would need surgery, which would keep him out of commission for at least eight weeks.

Chennai is impacted by this. In the last competition, Conway was outstanding, scoring 672 runs with a strike rate of 139.7 in 15 innings. He was quite reliable, and in the cash-rich league, he helped Chennai get off to strong beginnings with Ruturaj Gaikwad. In his place, Ajinkya Rahane or Rachin Ravindra are now predicted to launch the IPL in 2024. Conway is anticipated to be sidelined until at least May. This week, BLACKCAPS opener Devon Conway will have surgery to heal the left thumb he injured against Australia during the KFC T20I series. The statement said, “After multiple scans and expert advice, the decision was made to operate on Conway, with a projected eight-week recovery period.”

Training Camp Begins for Chennai Super Kings

More Indian players will be arriving over the next several days, with the first group arriving on Friday to attend the preparation camp. The Super Kings’ official social media accounts posted images to verify the arrival of the first group of players. The sole player with a cap, Deepak Chahar, came on Friday. Accompanying him were gifted young players, including all-rounders Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Mukesh Choudhary, Prashant Solanki, Ajay Mandal, and pacer Simarjeet Singh.

In the meanwhile, December’s five-match Twenty20 International series against Australia was the final appearance for veteran bowler Deepak Chahar, who has battled ailments throughout his career. In his four overs, he completed with stats of 2/44 during the fourth Twenty20 International in Raipur. He had a medical emergency and had to return home before their fifth encounter. The sickness of his father caused the right-arm pacer to miss the South Africa tour.

In the meantime, Ruturaj Gaikwad arrived on Saturday. He is expected to lead the Super Kings in the future after Dhoni retires. Interestingly, Chennai will take against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Friday.
