IND-W vs AUS-W 1st T20I : Indian women’s team has defeated Australia by 9 wickets in the first T20 match. In the match played in Navi Mumbai, thanks to Titas Sadhu’s 4 wickets, India bowled out Australia for 141 runs in 19.2 overs. In response, the Indian women’s team defeated Australia by 9 wickets after losing one wicket and thanks to half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma. India won the match by scoring 145 runs for one wicket in 17.4 overs.
While chasing the target of 142 runs set by Australia, Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave a good start to India and took the team closer to victory. Smriti Mandhana scored 54 runs in 52 balls. Shefali remained unbeaten after scoring 64 runs in 44 balls. India has taken a 1-0 lead by winning the first match of the three-match T20 series.
Earlier, thanks to the career-best performance of Titas Sadhu (four wickets for 17 runs), the Indian women’s team bowled out Australia for 141 runs in 19.2 overs in the first match of the three-match T20 International series on Friday. Apart from Sadhu, Deepti Sharma took two wickets for 24 runs and Shreyanka Patil took two wickets for 19 runs. After Sadhu took three wickets in the beginning, Phoebe Litchfield (49 runs) and Elise Perry (37 runs) made a partnership of 79 runs for the fifth wicket to take Australia to this score.
Sadhu took three wickets for eight runs in three overs in her first spell in the powerplay, taking the wickets of Beth Mooney (17), Tahlia McGrath (0) and Ashley Gardner (0). This right-arm fast bowler got her fourth wicket in the form of Annabel Sutherland (12) in her last over (18th of the innings).
Lichfield, who topped the batting in the ODI series, continued her form in the T20s but missed out on a half-century. His innings included three sixes and four fours and he scored 49 runs in 32 balls. Parry contributed 37 runs in 30 balls with two fours and as many sixes.
