Jasprit Bumrah Retired?
2 min readThree players of the team declared their retirement from Twenty20 international cricket within the following day, following India’s victory against South Africa by seven runs to capture the prized trophy for the second time in history last Saturday in Barbados. The first person to announce it was Virat Kohli, who did so immediately after winning Player of the Match. Following suit, India captain Rohit Sharma made the news during the press conference held after the game. Finally, Ravindra Jadeja jumped on the bandwagon a few hours later. So Jasprit Bumrah will he be next on the list?
For the first time in seventeen years, India won the T20 World Cup thanks in large part to Bumrah. At a mere 8.26 economy rate, he claimed 15 wickets, making him the second greatest wicket-taker in the competition. In the championship match, he had one of his greatest performances when, in the closing overs, he bowled a lean spell to prevent South Africa from winning.

Kohli appreciate Bumrah
Kohli heaped appreciation on Bumrah earlier during the Mumbai tournament for his ability to help India recover from a position in which Heinrich Klaasen had single-handedly reduced the chase to 25 needed off the last 25 balls. He left South Africa in disarray after giving up just six runs in two overs, and they lost by seven runs.
Like everyone else in the stadium, we thought it may slip away once more at one point, but what transpired in the final five overs was just incredible. I would like everyone to give a round of applause to a person who has kept us in games throughout this tournament. He bowled two of the final five overs, which was an incredible feat in the final five overs. Give Jasprit Bumrah a hearty round of applause, please. The former captain of India remarked, “We are fortunate that he plays for us.
