Lance Klusener Has Been Appointed As The Assistant Coach By LSG
2 min readFormer South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener has joined the Lucknow SuperGiants as an assistant coach for the 2024 Indian Premier League. Klusener also oversees the Super Giants, a SA20 affiliate based in Durban. Klusener will be in the Super Giants’ back room with head coach Justin Langer and assistant coach S Sriram.
After helping former South Africa captain Shaun Pollock with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL’s early years, Klusener will be coaching in the league for the second time.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors won their first CPL championship last year under Klusener’s leadership. Klusener will play in the Indian Premier League alongside West Indies phenom Shamar Joseph, with whom he previously collaborated at Amazon Warriors in the Champions League. Joseph became a member of Super Giants, taking over for Mark Wood.

Klusener has held positions as South Africa’s and Zimbabwe’s batting coach as well as head coach of Afghanistan. Additionally, he has collaborated with Tripura on internal Indian projects.

From 1996 to 2004, Klusener participated in 171 ODIs and 49 Test matches for South Africa. On March 24, the Super Giants will play the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur to begin their IPL 2024 season.

History
The Indian Premier League saw the addition of Lucknow SuperGiants in 2022, bringing the total number of clubs to ten. Gujarat Titans made their debut in the same year.
Sanjiv Goenka of the RPSG group owns the Lucknow SuperGiants, whose home field is the BRS ABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Former owners of the briefly active Rising Pune Supergiant franchise were the RPSG group.
