At the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, ten clubs bid 230.45 crore rupees for 72 players in the inaugural IPL 2024 Player Auction, which was conducted abroad. Mitchell Starc, an Australian pacer, sold for the highest price ever at the IPL Auction when the Kolkata Knight Riders paid Rs. 24.75 crore for his services.
On Tuesday, a total of 72 players received IPL contracts, with 10 clubs shelling out INR 230.45 crore in total. Shubham Dubey, an uncapped cricket player from India, and Sameer Rizvi had an overnight change in fortune after being selected by RR for ₹5.8 crore and CSK for ₹8.4 crore, respectively.
Mitchell Starc broke his captain Pat Cummins’ record, which was set just an hour ago, to become the most expensive player in IPL history, giving M Shahrukh Khan and Kumar Kushagra enormous paydays as well. While SRH paid ₹20.5 crore to acquire Cummins, KKR spent an astounding ₹24.75 crore to acquire Starc. Indian pacers Shivam Mavi and Umesh Yadav were acquired by GT and LSG for ₹5.8 crore and 6.4 crore, respectively.
