ICC T20 World Cup 2024 : Highlights of the New York cricket

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 : Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York is the first modular stadium of its sort for cricket. It is currently under construction and should be finished in three months. 8 matches, including the highly anticipated encounter between India and Pakistan on June 9, will take place in the 34,000-seat stadium during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice stated, “We are thrilled to be launching the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York in advance of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.”

As construction on the stadium, which can hold 34,000 cricket fans, gets underway, it marks a huge step towards the largest-ever ICC tournament.

We will work with top-tier vendors to construct the modular stadium so that participants and spectators may have an amazing time at all eight of this year’s games in June in New York.

The ICC has nominated Eisenhower Park, situated in Nassau County, Long Island, approximately 25 miles east of New York City, along with Grand Prairie, Texas, and Broward County, Lauderhill, Florida, as one of the three USA locations to hold 16 group phase matches. Eight of the matches, including the June 9 India-Pakistan encounter, will take place at Eisenhower Park.

“There will be warm-up matches played at the facility (New York) so that we know from a cricket perspective how the venue runs,” Tetley stated. Crucially, we will also understand from an operational standpoint how all of the functional teams working together to manage the stadium must communicate with attendees as they pass through the turnstiles on event days.

Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions, led by Adelaide Oval’s chief groundsperson Damian Hough, is currently preparing a series of drop-in pitches in Florida. The USA-based turf manufacturer LandTek Group, which has created playing fields for the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Inter Miami CF, is producing the outfield, in the meanwhile.

Damian and LandTek collaborate closely on all agronomic elements of the facility. They are the ones that we are most concerned about making sure are of the proper quality from a cricket standpoint, since that is essential,” he said.
