IPL 2024: LSG Humiliates RCB in their Home
2 min readAfter winning the toss, RCB decided to bowl first. However, they made the unexpected decision to fire Vyshak Vijaykumar. When RCB hosts Lucknow SuperGiants today at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, they will be looking to turn around their current record in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), which has seen them lose two of their first three games. The Lucknow SuperGiants will be monitoring the health of regular skipper KL Rahul. After suffering a crushing home loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders last week, RCB is presently ranked ninth in the points standings with a net run rate of -0.71.
LSG, on the other hand, has a positive NRR of +0.025 and is ranked sixth in the points standings after two wins and a defeat thus far.

RCB’s poor start to the season thus far can’t be attributed to a single factor. However, they have only produced two positives thus far: Dinesh Karthik, who appears to have reverted to his 2022 best down the order, and Virat Kohli, who is the second-highest run scorer with two consecutive fifties.
For the majority of their innings, LSG’s bowlers dominated the RCB’s, but in the last few overs, the latter began to rally. After smashing 81 off 56 balls, Quinton de Kock was sent out by Reece Topley in the 17th over. The run rate for LSG fell off significantly between the 15th and 18th overs. After that, LSG’s innings concluded with 181/5 in 20 overs, and Nicholas Pooran finished unbeaten on 40 off 21 after a couple strong smashes in the final two overs.

An Unpredictible Play by LSG
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis were stifled by Lucknow SuperGiants’ spin at both ends in the first two overs of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s chase of 182. Even though it seemed like the two were starting to get along, in the fifth over, M Siddharth dismissed Kohli. Express bowler Mayank Yadav bowled the opening ball of the sixth, which resulted in Du Plessis being run out. The youngster then removed Glenn Maxwell from the game.
At M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror tried to keep six-down Royal Challengers Bengaluru alive as they chased 182 runs against the Lucknow SuperGiants. In his four overs, Mayank Yadav claimed three wickets, while Marcus Stoinis and Manimaran Siddharth each claimed one.
While Pooran blasted five sixes his way to a 21-ball 40 not out, De Kock smacked eight fours and five sixes in his 56-ball 81. For RCB, Glenn Maxwell (2/23) claimed two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj (1/47), Reece Topley (1/39) and Yash Dayal (1/24) each claimed one.
Lomror give a hope to the fans after he got scalped by Yash Thakur and Kartik got hunted by Naveen and in the end in 19.3 overs RCB got all out at 153 runs.
